She who simply fell in love with life

That year, we had a reunion

Dug out this drafted post from two years ago which I’ve been meaning to post up but…

well… unintentionally procrastinated until now.

Big Grin

These are the bunch of crazy guys I used to hang out with during Liverpool days.

I am not about to tell you how long ago has that been… let’s just say it’s been long enough for us to know these friendships actually meant more than we thought it did to us when we were still students…

After graduation, we went separate ways to build our careers whilst some continued with their studies.

Ching should be getting his doctorate from Cambridge this year. Insanely smart fella he is.

We are from all over the places of different nationalities but two years ago we decided to meet up after so long. Some from UK and some from New Zealand flew into KL for a reunion trip. And I? Tourguide la :) We had a great time catching up with each other over a few days of eating and partying non-stop.

Will let pictures take over now ;)

You may wonder how come my friends are all guys? Well those days computer science wasn’t a popular subject to the females and I was considered as part of the ethnic gender minority in the faculty. Hence forth.

Two years later, one of us got married last month. Phil was one of my closest friends among all… his wedding was the only wedding that I attended without knowing anyone except the groom.

Will blog about the wedding in my next post.

My brain is picked with all these arithmetic calculations and methodologies omg, information overload! I respect those who have gone through more gruesome exams than PMP certification and juggling with work at the same time…

Night View at the resort

I’m a huge fan for boutique hotels and seriously, this is by far one of the most gorgeous one I’ve ever stayed in…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now let me take you through Hua Hin Town at night
IMG_1159
There are many seafood restaurants in Hua Hin.
Food isn’t exactly cheap cos it’s a touristy town so you gotta know your pick…
 IMG_0608
We were recommended to this place call LaMer Restaurant on our first night, supposedly one of the best restaurant in town which boasts excellent view overlooking the sea… but it’s pitch dark at night!!! Oh their food was totally not up to par… some of those dishes were served cold and blandish. Not recommended at all!
  IMG_1128
Chao Lay Restaurant on the other hand was so much better in terms of food quality, overall service and it’s also cheaper than LaMer!
IMG_1130
IMG_1126
After dinner, take a stroll along Hua Hin night market where local food, art, clothes, bags, souvenirs and so on are aplenty.
IMG_1160
Another seafood restaurant in Town Centre
IMG_1166
Portable Bar – very interesting
IMG_1131
Local Delicacies
 IMG_1132
Anyone has the stomach for some organs and bugs skewers?
 IMG_1148
Colourful fruit stall – great for travelers who don’t often drink enough water as fruits ease digestion.
 IMG_1149
Homemade coconut ice-cream with yam – a must try when you are in Hua Hin!
Hua Hin
leave a comment »
My friend Vic recently asked about places that I’d recommend as an “extraordinary getaway” from KL without burning a huge hole in the pocket. Well, me thinks there’s no better places like Let’s Sea Resort in Hua Hin if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing break isolated from the hustle and bustle. The place is quite remote and the journey to get there can be quite a pain, but trust me, you will not regret it. The boutique resort itself is already impressive enough to make all the hassles worthwhile.
22064_238272287133_618302133_3679179_6401681_n
Hua Hin is a beach resort town along the coastal area 200km south of Bangkok. It takes about 2.5 to 3 hours drive by taxi and approximately 4 hours by train to get there; costs about 2500-3000 bahts and 400 bahts for a one way journey respectively. However if you are opting for train, I strongly encourage to get the fast speed train which takes off at 8am every morning from Bangkok Railway station.
IMG_0429
We wanted to get a taste of being on a train to enjoy the rural scenic view of greater Bangkok, and it’s cheaper thus we opted for a one way ticket to Hua Hin. I must say it’s quite an experience….
22064_238272292133_618302133_3679180_5209710_n 22064_232921927133_618302133_3647142_2201964_n
The train captain who was doing his inspection duty. The 4 hours ride was pretty long but the nice sceneries along the way have well compensated for it.
 22064_232921967133_618302133_3647148_5056293_n
Beautiful paddy views outskirt of Bangkok.
22064_232921972133_618302133_3647149_3938857_n
After 4 hours we finally reached Hua Hin! To my surprise the journey was rather pleasant, train was well equipped with cushion seats and air-conditioned and there was no chickens running around nor smelly armpits.   PHEW!
 IMG_0477
The tut-tut ride is a ripoff though. It’s hard since they already know you are a tourist unless you speak native Thai. Asking price starts from 300 bahts onwards for a 10 minutes journey.
IMG_0480
Voila! After a long journey we finally reached the resort we’ve been looking forward to. Isn’t it pretty?
This resort was recommended by my Thai friend who lives in Bangkok and true enough it didn’t disappoint us.
Stay tuned for part 2 for more elaboration of the resort!
Lemon Garden @ Shangri-la
leave a comment »
Had lunch at The Lemon Garden Cafe over the weekend coz my siblings are oyster junkies. I’m alright with oysters but not a craze.
IMG00071-20100703-1524
Food was great, it’s a lunch buffet so needless to say we all ended up inevitably stuffing ourselves silly. I skipped all things carb to make rooms for desserts.
IMG00060-20100703-1415
I love their dessert, everything is so pretty on the outside and sinfully delicious on the inside.
 IMG00050-20100703-1412
Fondue anyone? They have two flavours: Dark Chocolate & Chocolate Orange
 IMG00075-20100703-1527
Took a snapshot before leaving the hotel – the place where memories flashed back to the happy times during one of my best friend’s wedding last year. I haven’t been back to Shang since then… everything is still so vivid as if it was only yesterday’s fairy affair. I could see shadows of the sequence of those events running in the background like the preparations, the rehearsals, the actual day itself and dinner, the hotel lift I never used oh so frequently, rummaging of the bridal suite for a Gstring and etc etc. But most importantly, you know the reason… on how I loved weddings and then started despising it…
World Cup 2010
with 2 comments
WorldCup 2010 is all about the odds and underdog surprises this time.
As an England supporter, I know they didn’t deserve to win.
A disjointed team to start off with and they were disappointingly losing steam in every match.
But  it was flabbergasting to watch Brazil the Argies defeated by Germany 4-0. Big Ouch…
Who do you think will be the World Cup Champion this year then?
Not the Germs, please.
IMG00024-20100703-0047
Been watching football with my mates at ECOBA almost every Friday during worldcup season.
In a way, I’m sad coz worldcup is going to be in just over a week!
Special Formula
leave a comment »
Every time when I skip lunch to visit her and 2 months old Charlotte at home, it brings me immense comfort. I’ll be going on and on yakking about all the petty trivia that life brings; whilst she tries to focus at my conversation and feeding the angel at the same time. Feels like we are indeed going through a life changing phase… so busy embracing ourselves with different kind of joys and funs but blessed to have each other. Where would we be when we turn forty? We often joked. One thing I learnt though…
Friendships don’t magically last for 40 years
IMG00985-20100613-1215
It’s a lifetime investment :)
So on shitty days.
Bin : Buy wine and come on over.
I     : But will Charlotte get drunk with your milk?  O_o
Special formula?
Obviously I won’t let her do that. But it’s the thought that counts… Love Struck
Parental love
with 2 comments
Life is so good when mums are at home.
It’s the kind of luxury we don’t get to take for granted coz they stay  live in Shanghai.
Laundry is taken care of (yayyy no ironing for a week!); loosen skirt lines/ shirt buttons are fixed without a worry; coming home everyday to yummy home cooked food and for once you wouldn’t want to work late; and at the park, can’t help but discreetly smiling at everyone cos this beautiful old lady running beside me is my momma but most importantly, I get to spend quality time with them.
Guess that’s how we’d feel when parents are getting old. First you go into denial that not only you are aging, but sadly the parents do too. When was the last time you look at them properly and wonder how come there’s such a significant increase of wrinkles on their faces? Then you’d do just about anything it takes to let them nag you a little more…
Took a day off from work yesterday to bring them out to the mall. Best day ever invested!
They are leaving for Shanghai again tomorrow. Thank god I don’t have to be the one doing the farewell at the airport this time… I hate goodbyes.
